Taxis

Taxis in Manchester are just like all of England, like on movies about London, they are black and have a strange shape.  They are the most expensive form of transport. You can read about them here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackney_carriage

There is another kind of taxi, called a private hire car. It looks similar to a normal car but it is usually silver or white. The difference between the two taxis is that you cannot just stop a private car, you have to order it by telephone. You can stop a black taxi at any time if its orange light is on.

Car

DURING THE DAY: As the school is in the centre of the city car is the worst way to come to the school! There is no free parking, and congestion is often bad. The nearest pay car parks are available here.

However, after 6pm parking on single yellow lines and in pay and display bays is FREE! This means that if you come to school after 6pm you will be able to park for free if you can find a space near the school.

Also, on Sunday Manchester city centre is quite quiet and parking in bays and on single yellow lines is free all day.
