Before you begin to study we need to know what level of English you have.

We do two kinds of tests; 

1. An internet based test before you come to the school. You only need to do this if you are applying from outside the UK. 
2. A personal interview with a head teacher on your first day. All students do this test. You can only do this at the A2Z School in Manchester. This takes about 15 minutes.

If you apply to join an Exam class like IELTS, FCE or CAE, then we will probably ask you to complete a short 30 minute entrance test to determine your ability to join the group. However, the head teacher will decide if this is necessary or not.

Student Visa exams

If you need a UK General Student Visa you must do a SELT (Secure English Language Test). You can see a list of which tests are acceptable on the UKBA website.

If your level is B1 (intermediate) or higher then you can apply for a General Student Visa.

However, if your level is lower than B1 (eg A2 or A1) then you can only apply for a Student Visitor Visa or Extended Student Visitor Visa, which are more limited in the rights afforded to the student. You won't be able to work and you will have to go home when you finish.
