General Terms and Conditions
-
Minimum age of enrolment is 18 unless specified otherwise in the course programme.
Payment, Certificates of Enrolment, Refunds and Cancellations
-
A student’s registration and enrolment for courses will serve as a binding agreement to follow the course to completion and to pay the full fees. The application form must be signed to indicate the student’s agreement to abide by the terms and conditions of enrolment at A2Z School.
-
It is the responsibility of the student to book their course far enough in advance to enable any necessary visa requirements to be met. Courses may sometimes be postponed when waiting for a visa to be issued if a request is made at least one week before the course start date.
-
All new students are required to take a level test on their first day at the School. Students cannot choose the level at which they want to study as this will be determined by the head teacher. Students will sometimes miss one or more of their lessons on their first day at school to complete the registration and these missed lessons are non-refundable.
-
Payment of all course fees must be received before a Certificate of Enrolment (either in the form of a letter or a CAS number) can be issued. Students requiring documentation in support of a visa application must pay the fees in full. All fees due to the school must be paid in full, prior to the commencement of the course.
-
A bank transfer may take one to two weeks to reach the School’s account and Certificates of Enrolment can only be issued after the funds have cleared into the School’s account.
-
A2Z School of English is unable to accept cheques as a method of payment.
-
Payments by credit card (rather than a debit card) carry a 3% surcharge.
-
No refund can be made to students once the course has commenced and no transfer of courses in whole or in part can be made. Fees are non-refundable in the case of late registration or the abandonment of a course. A2Z does not permit the transfer of credit from one student to another.
-
Refunds; If you pay for a course at A2Z School of English we will not normally refund any of the money under any circumstances, regardless of whether the course has started or not. There are two exceptions to this;
-
When a student has applied for a visa but has not obtained one, ie when their application has been rejected.
-
When the student's personal circumstances mean that a refund of course fees is appropriate, for example, if someone in a student's family dies and they want to return home early for the funeral. However, refunds of this kind are at the complete discretion of the management of the A2Z School and may be refused for any reason. In addition we may ask to see certain documents to prove the truth of any claims (A death certificate, for example). If you wish to apply for a refund please download, complete and return the refund form.
-
Refunds may take up to 90 days to process once notice of cancellation has been given.
-
Cancellations made due to visa refusal will result in a loss of £125 administration fee. The student must supply the School with the original notice of refusal from the British Embassy or Consulate and return the Certificate of Enrolment/Letter(s). No refund of tuition fees can be made until the school has verified the visa refusal is genuine.
-
Students who submit false information on their visa application resulting in a refusal of further leave to remain in the UK by the UKBA (United Kingdom Border Agency) will not be entitled to a refund on any fees they have paid.
-
Visa students cannot shorten their courses or reduce their number of lessons. No refunds will be given to non-visa students who shorten their courses or reduce their number of lessons after their course has started.
-
If a student is dismissed for poor attendance or misconduct, no refund will be given.
General
-
All students are required to present their passports on their first day and the school will retain a copy, as required by UKBA immigration regulations.
-
Students are encouraged to arrive for lessons on time. Late entry to the class is at the discretion of the teacher who may refuse entry to any student who is more than five minutes late or is habitually late.
-
Course fees do not include course books, materials, travel expenses, social events where fees are charged or personal and health insurance.
-
A student agrees on signing the registration form that A2Z School keeps their personal records on its computerised systems. Should any circumstances change it is the student’s responsibility to keep A2Z School informed of all changes, in particular, of any changes of home address in the UK, as well as in their home country, changes to emergency telephone numbers and contact names and change of email address.
-
All students must book holidays at least one week in advance. The maximum authorised holiday permitted is dependent on the length of the course you are studying and will be determined by the A2Z School. Students are not obliged to take holidays but holidays taken will affect their end date as stated in the enrolment letter.
-
Students at the School all study together and it is required that students consider one another and all teachers and staff. Any student whose behaviour causes inconvenience, offence or distress to other students or A2Z staff will be excluded from lessons. Persistent offenders will be expelled from A2Z School and their course cancelled. No refund of course fees will be made.
-
Students are required to have at least an 80% attendance rate in every week. Students with a SVV (Student Visitor Visa), ESVV (Extended Student Visitor Visa) or GSV (General Student Visa) are advised that they must attend at least 80% of their lessons. All students must attend their class regularly, or will be automatically removed from the register. The student will have to register again at the Reception and may not be able to go back to the same class if it is full. No extension or refunds will be made.
-
A2Z School will try to contact any student who remains absent from their class for five days or more. This is so that the School can find out what may be wrong with the student, to offer any welfare assistance and to remind them of the need to comply with the terms and condition of enrolment at A2Z. Under the UKBA Tier 4 immigration system, it is a legal obligation for A2Z (as the students sponsor) to report extended periods of absence of more than 10 consecutive days to the UKBA monitoring unit.
-
Letters and certificates will not be issued to students who have not paid, attended or reached the levels necessary for the documents they want. Students requiring signed documents must request them at least five working days before or pay a small fee for letters required more urgently.
-
The maximum number of students in a class is fourteen.
-
Details of the class times can be found in the reception or on the website. Classes start at 08.30am and finish at 20.20pm.
-
Students on a GSV student visa cannot study after 18:30pm as part of their main (student visa course), but they may study at this time in addition to their main course.
-
Students taking an examination course will also be required to take a written test and/or have a head teacher's approval, and will not be permitted onto the course if they are not at the required level.
-
Change of class or time is strictly subject to availability. Although every effort is made to place students in the location and at the time of their choice, students can only move if there is a space in the class and if the student is at the right level for the class. Morning classes are never guaranteed.
-
Students will be required to pay for examination fees in addition to course fees. A list of examination fees is obtainable from the reception. Examination fees vary, depending on the type of course being undertaken. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that examination fees are paid on time.
-
A2Z School reserves the right to cancel, move or merge any class where there is insufficient demand or any other justifiable reason to do so. For cancelled classes the School will offer an alternative class of the same value or lesson vouchers.
-
Complaints about the School’s courses or services should be made immediately as complaints made after the course has finished will not be accepted.
-
CALLAN METHOD GUARANTEE: The Guarantee is available to all students. Students who do not achieve the stated amount of progress in the stated number of lessons will receive free lessons until they achieve the stated progress. However, this is dependent on two factors; attendance must be more than 80% and the student must have paid all their fees. It is the student's responsibility to request the guarantee from the school.
