Student City

Manchester is a student city

That makes it a great place to live - there are many bars and restaurants and the nightlife is exciting.

Most students are British, but there are also thousands of international students from all over the world.

There are estimated to be more than 80,000 students in Manchester. The majority of these live in a concentrated area around the wilmslow road, a road that leads south out of the city.

At the top of wilmslow road is the University, then Fallowfield, finally Withington and Didsbury.

Manchester University is the most popular university in the UK! More British students apply to study there than any other UK university. It has a very good reputation for many subjects, and many world discoveries have taken place there. The famous Alan Turing, father of computer science, worked at the University. In 2011 two scientists at Manchester University won the nobel prize for physics!
