Most European Students do not need a visa to come and study English in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. 

However, if you are from a country outside Europe you will probably need a visa.

Generally, there are two kinds of visa

• A visa you get when you arrive at the airport
• A visa you must apply for before you leave your country

There are different kinds of visas – some visas give you permission to work or bring your family, but these visas are generally more difficult to obtain.
